After winning the China Open in 2018, Mohamed Abouelghar looked destined for a spot at the top of the PSA Rankings - spending six straight years in the world’s top 20 and reaching a highest ranking of World No.7 in 2019.
However, the Egyptian, renowned as one of the most entertaining players on tour, suffered a serious knee injury which saw him miss over 12 months on tour between 2021 and 2022 and drop out of the world’s top 250.
Since then, Abouelghar has built himself back into a constant presence at major PSA Tour events, winning his second China Open from an unseeded position in November 2025 - his first piece of silverware on tour in six years.
